Hot on the heels of the most recent ABS airbag recall, Mammut has today issues a service call on their own systems. If you have either an ABS or Mammut bag, you need to check whether or not your bag is affected. Mammut posted the following service bulletin today:

Service Bulletin Mammut / Snowpulse Avalanche Airbag

Individual feedback and intense inspections showed that the connection between the release mechanism and the Venturi box may come loose in very rare cases at very intense use of the avalanche airbag. To exclude loss of function, we ask you to preventively re-equip this connection with the specifically developed clip. This clip prevents coming loose of the connection. Re-equipment of the Venturi clip can be performed quickly and easily by any customer.

The following models are affected by the re-equipment call:

Airbag systems of the production seasons Winter 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14.

  • Removable Airbag System RAS
  • Protection Airbag System
  • Snowpulse Lifebag System

These systems can be installed in backpacks by Mammut, Snowpulse, Highmark by Snowpulse, Scott, as well as Ferrino, Oakley and Jones Snowboarding.

To see if your avalanche airbag needs to be re-equipped, open the backpack and expose the release mechanism connected to the cartridge.

The sticker with the reference to the respective season is attached to the rear of the release mechanism.

The Venturi clip MUST be re-equipped in these models.


The Venturi clip does NOT have to be re-equipped in these models:

Models with the Inflation System 2.0 from the production season Winter 2014/2015 and models with the Inflation System 1.0. (System before 2011)

The season of your avalanche airbag is listed on the lower left of the release mechanism.

Re-equipment of the Venturi clip can be performed quickly and easily by any customer. The required clip with installation instructions can be requested free of charge via an order form. Your data will of course be treated confidentially and only be used in the scope of the re-equipment campaign.
