Name : Andrew Poodlenevis

Other names : fifi or feef

Skiing background : Andrew’ is a BASI qualified ski instructor and has been skiing for over 30 years.  Growing up in Scotland it started out with lessons at Bellahouston dry slope followed by numerous day and weekend trips to the highlands before hitting the Alps.  His first ‘saturday job’ was with a small sports shop with a ski dept and at 16 he was servicing, repairing and selling skis, boots and bindings.  While studying mechanical engineering at uni he was equipment convenor and holiday convenor for the ski club, which also involved some racing at Bearsden.

He also spent a few seasons as a ski tech and bootfitter with a number of specialist retailers including Nevisport in Glasgow.  A motorcycle accident in 2002 resulting in a split pelvis and other injuries saw him taking a break from all sports for a few years, but his passion for skiing and the mountains has never left him. When not skiing you may well find him rallying motorcycles across the countryside in the ATRC series, sailing on the west coast of Scotland or cycling around his local lanes and byways.

Professional background : It’s all IT stuff (You can probably stop reading now). Over 10 years as a DBA  specialising in MySQL and before that a web application developer. He’s been involved in a number of startups and small companies in recent years and is always looking for the next big thing.
